Slimline Pen Kit

These are now my go-to pen kits – inexpensive and yet very professional looking when completed. The kit is versatile enough (i.e., not overly ornate or “over-designed”) that you could use almost any pen blank. I’ve used colored popsicle stick blanks (homemade, easy, cheap!), “found” wood, tree trimmings, a water buffalo horn (a dog chew!), crushed seashells, and more. I’m always impressed with the look and feel when complete. I’ve probably made 30-35 of these kits. They make great, personalized gifts. I have not attempted to sell any (instead giving them away – sometimes! – when complimented), but I have been asked to sell some.

One tip (especially if you are using a disc sander instead of a barrel trimmer to remove extra blank material after gluing the tubes; i.e., maybe removing a millimeter or so of brass tube, too, on accident) – when assembling the pen, don’t push the pen transmission all the way to the indented line immediately. Always push just passed the brass(?) bit and insert the refill to check how far in and out it goes from the tip! Remove refill and push further until the refill falls where you like. I ruined a couple of pens by pushing too far first; I haven’t found a way to remove a transmission without destroying it. Again this was ALL user error!

I very highly recommend these kits! Btw, I’ve also reviewed the Shop Pencil kit and the Sketch Pencil kit if interested… spoiler alert… I love those, too.

These pen kits look nice fell great and are quite inexpensive. I have used a majority of the slim line pen kits out there and this is the best quality for a realistic price. I recently ordered 60 slim line pen kits from this site, they were all complete with no missing parts. They were package very securely and shipped quick. There was one very minute ding on one pen kit that seemed to have been some sort of manufacturing defect. I was unable to see it until it was pointed out. On other places I have looked for this kit it is either nearly twice the price or they don't carry it.
