The tendon step makes this a little more effort than many other pens, but I think it's well worth it for how it looks. I modified the instructions slightly; I cut the tendon slightly shorter so the band handily comes over the lower half of the pen. I also may wind up shortening the longer tube 1/8" in the future as when I was assembling the first one, I thought the tip was never going to come out (the transmission seats /very/ deep)! Note: as pictured completed and what I received look alike, but the directions appear to be written for shorter lower tubes ... don't shorten anything until you test it in case mine were a goof at the factory :-) I made seven & I already have more in my cart for my next order.
