I bought 10 of this and every single one came in good condition and fully functioning.
Can´t speak for the golden one, but the chrome makes every wood pop out without loosing elegance. Its heavy and has a high quality feel, the plating is very resistant.
The only downside is that the top part (whole top assembly) of the pen is assembled by tight fit and over time it will loosen. You can glue them and the mechanism becomes a thread joint.
This kit is particularly difficult to find but Crooked mill has a reliable supply of it. Would definitely buy it again.
I've assembled a few of these and they are attractive and well balanced. For those of you that might be familiar with another pen kit out there called the "Hart Double Twist" this pen kit is virtually the same kit. While the Hart is a bit more refined with respect to its hardware(the double twist mechanism) this kit more than makes up for in its ease of assembly because of those differences. Not to mention this kit is nearly $2 less with little to no visible difference in the finished product. Whether you're making this kit for yourself of churning them out for profit it's a winner either way in my opinion.
