I'd never done anything other than solid wood or antler before buying three blanks in my last order. I had just finished the two SpectraPly blanks & wasn't really looking forward to trying this blank right after that, but I bought it for something specific, so I pressed forward. Unlike SpectraPly (which really liked bleeding the colours together via dust/moisture), these stayed 100% true (might have to do with the resin/dye process or maybe because the layers are hardwood?). Everyone really liked the angled cut & it turned very cleanly with sharp tools. Best part is it was maybe 3/16" longer than the SpectraPly which (with a super thin kerf saw) was /just/ enough to cut the piece in half and use it twice (on the specific pen I did ), making it cheaper to use than the SpectraPly. Win-Win-Win, I'll buy again. BTW: There's advice to mitigate the issues I had with SpectraPly online; I'll hold off on reviewing the two I bought until I get a chance to try again in case it was user error (and in that case, my reviews will mention what I did).
Makes an awesome looking pen that catches the eye.
